Insight on the intracrinology of menopause: androgen production within the human vagina

In this study, we investigated steroidogenic gene mRNA expression in human vagina and verified the ability of human vagina smooth muscle cells (hvSMCs) to synthesize androgens from upstream precursor dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA).
